I’m Mike Preston, the owner of Mike Preston Construction, and I’ve been on quite a journey to get here. My story began in 2011 when I started my apprenticeship with Hann Construction in Christchurch, right in the thick of the rebuilding efforts after the earthquakes. It was a challenging time, but it ignited my passion for building and taught me the importance of resilience and teamwork. I quickly moved up the ranks to site foreman, managing large-scale commercial and residential projects, and honing my skills along the way. In 2020, I made the decision to return to my roots in the Wairarapa, where I founded Mike Preston Construction. My goal was simple: to bring a personal touch to the building process, specializing in architecturally designed homes, renovations, extensions, and villa restorations. I believe that communication is key, which is why I prioritize weekly client meetings to ensure that everyone is informed and involved every step of the way. When I’m not on-site, you can find me fishing, spending quality time with my family, or dreaming about my next outdoor adventure. I’m also proud to say that I earned my private pilot license in 2010, a testament to my love for learning and exploring new horizons.
